Speaking to Two Journalism Classes at Penn State

Yesterday, I visited Penn State University to speak to two of Cindy Simmons’ journalism classes about Pennsylvania’s Right-to-Know Law.

Both were great sessions, and I very much appreciate the invitation.

Two RTKL Presentations at Temple University

Yesterday, I returned to my alma mater Temple University to speak to two journalism classes about Pennsylvania’s Right-to-Know Law.

It was great to be back on campus (so much construction!). Both classes, one with undergraduate students and one with master’s students, had outstanding questions, and I greatly appreciate the invitations.

Presentation to Criminal Justice Advisory Committee

Earlier today, I was pleased to speak to the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee, a committee under the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, in Harrisburg.

The topic was video records such as bodycams and dashcams, how they’re currently handled under Pennsylvania’s Right-to-Know Law, pending legislation on the topic, and other related issues.

My thanks to the Chairman, Representative Mike Vereb, for inviting me to speak.

PNA Sunshine Week Presentation

Earlier today, I took part in a Sunshine Week panel discussion hosted by the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association (PNA).

The panel also included Melissa Melewsky, Media Law Counsel for PNA, Scott Coburn, General Counsel for the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors, and Terry Mutchler, my predecessor as Executive Director of the Office of Open Records and now an attorney at Pepper Hamilton.

It was an excellent discussion, and PCN was on hand to record it for future broadcast.

Yesterday, I took part in the “Big Data & You” panel at Pittsburgh’s Thrival Innovation & Music Festival.
